Media Booster
Media Booster allows you to increase and process the audio volume of media playing in a supported browser tab.
Overview
The feature provides preset boost levels from 100 percent to 450 percent.
Media Booster can be started directly from YouTube or from another supported media website such as Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, or another supported page.
You can also authorize additional media tabs and manage them from a single Media Booster interface using Switch Tab.
Before You Start
- Open the website containing the media you want to control.
- Make sure the media page is loaded in its browser tab.
Method 1: Start Media Booster from YouTube
Open SkipZS on YouTube
Open the YouTube page containing the media you want to boost.
Click the SkipZS extension icon in the Chrome toolbar.
Open the Features section.
Select Media Booster.
The Media Booster page will open and show the current YouTube tab.
Select a Boost Profile Level
Find the Boost Profile Level section.
You can choose from the following preset levels:
- 100 percentOFF
- 150 percent
- 200 percent
- 250 percent
- 300 percent
- 350 percent
- 400 percent
- 450 percent
The 100 percent option is marked OFF and keeps audio boosting disabled.
Select the boost level you want to use.
Start Boosting Audio
After selecting a boost level, click Start Boosting Audio.
Media Booster will begin processing the audio from the selected browser tab.
The audio can now be played at a higher output level than the normal playback level.
When Media Booster is active, the status will indicate that it is active and the control will change to Stop Boosting.
Stop Boosting
When you no longer want to boost the audio, click Stop Boosting.
The audio boosting process will stop for the selected tab.
Switch Tab
Media Booster allows you to manage multiple supported media tabs from one Media Booster interface.
For example, you can have YouTube in one tab and Spotify in another tab.
After a supported tab has been authorized, you can select it from the Switch Tab interface and control its audio.
Adding Another Media Tab
Open Switch Tab
From the Media Booster page, click Switch Tab.
The Switch Tab panel will open.
The panel shows the media tab currently being controlled and any other media tabs that have already been authorized.
The current tab is identified as Current.
You will also see the Select New Tab option.
Select New Tab
Click Select New Tab.
The Add New Media Tab interface will appear.
This interface allows you to add another browser tab to Media Booster.
A new tab must first be authorized before it becomes available for selection.
Open the Other Media Website
For example, if you want to add Spotify, open Spotify in another browser tab.
Make sure the Spotify page is loaded.
While you are on the Spotify tab, click the SkipZS extension icon in the Chrome toolbar.
Open Features.
Select Media Booster.
The Media Booster interface will now be opened for the Spotify tab.
The current tab shown in the Media Booster interface will be the Spotify tab.
Temporarily Start Media Boosting
On the Media Booster page for the new website, select any Boost Profile Level.
Click Start Boosting Audio.
Wait until Media Booster becomes active.
Then click Stop Boosting.
This initial start and stop action authorizes the browser tab so that it can be made available in the Switch Tab list.
Simply opening the website is not enough to make the tab available.
Return to the Original Media Booster Tab
Return to the browser tab where you originally opened Media Booster.
Click Switch Tab.
The newly authorized media tab should now appear in the list.
For example, if you authorized Spotify, the Spotify tab will now be available.
Select the New Media Tab
Find the newly authorized tab.
Click Select Tab.
Media Booster will switch to that media tab.
You can now select the desired Boost Profile Level and click Start Boosting Audio to boost the audio from the selected tab.
Adding Additional Media Tabs
You can repeat the same process for additional supported media websites.
- Open the new website in another browser tab.
- Open SkipZS from that tab.
- Open Features.
- Select Media Booster.
- Click Start Boosting Audio.
- Click Stop Boosting.
- Return to the original Media Booster tab.
- Open Switch Tab.
- Select the newly authorized tab.
After authorization, the tab can be selected and managed from the Media Booster interface.
Method 2: Start Media Booster Directly from Another Website
You do not need to start Media Booster from YouTube.
If you are already using a supported website such as Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, or another supported media page, you can start Media Booster directly from that page.
Open the Website
Open the supported website in Chrome.
Open the media you want to control.
Open SkipZS
While you are on the website, click the SkipZS extension icon in the Chrome toolbar.
Open Features.
Select Media Booster.
Media Booster will open for the browser tab you were using.
For example, if Spotify was the active tab when you opened Media Booster, the Media Booster interface will show Spotify as the current tab.
Start Boosting
Find Boost Profile Level.
Select the desired boost level.
Click Start Boosting Audio.
Media Booster will begin processing the audio from the selected tab.
Switching Between Authorized Tabs
If other media tabs have already been authorized, they may be available through Switch Tab.
Click Switch Tab.
Find the media tab you want to control.
Click Select Tab.
Media Booster will switch to the selected tab.
You can then choose the desired Boost Profile Level and start or stop audio boosting from the same interface.
Important: Media Booster Conflict
Media Booster Conflict
Media Booster cannot actively control the same browser tab through multiple Media Booster sessions at the same time.
For example, if a browser tab is already being boosted through Media Booster in another window or session, attempting to start another Media Booster session for that same tab can result in a conflict.
You may see a warning indicating that Media Booster is already active on the tab in another window.
If this happens, return to the other Media Booster session and click Stop Boosting.
Then return to the Media Booster session you want to use and click Retry.
You can also select another browser tab by using Select Another Tab if you want to work with a different tab instead.
Choosing a Boost Profile Level
Media Booster provides the following preset levels:
- 100 percentOFF
- 150 percent
- 200 percent
- 250 percent
- 300 percent
- 350 percent
- 400 percent
- 450 percent
Start with a suitable level and increase it when additional volume is needed.
Local Audio Processing
Media Booster captures audio from the selected browser tab locally so that it can increase and process the audio volume.
Audio is processed on your device and is not uploaded by this feature.
