The General Settings section contains controls that allow you to customize the SkipZS interface and keyboard shortcuts.

General Settings and Keyboard Shortcuts

These settings can be accessed from SkipZS while you are using YouTube.

Open General Settings

Open SkipZS on YouTube

Open YouTube in Chrome.

Click the SkipZS extension icon in the Chrome toolbar.

The SkipZS popup will open.

Open the Settings section.

The Settings page contains the available general controls and keyboard shortcut options.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Open Keyboard Shortcuts

From Settings, find Keyboard Shortcuts.

Click Keyboard Shortcuts.

A keyboard shortcut popup will appear.

The popup displays the currently available SkipZS keyboard shortcuts.

View the Available Shortcuts

The Keyboard Shortcuts popup lists the shortcuts and the actions associated with them.

The currently available shortcuts are described below.

X Key

The X key is used with the ad mute functionality.

XPress and hold the X key to temporarily unmute a currently muted advertisement. Release the X key to automatically mute the advertisement again.
XorXDouble-click the X key to permanently unmute the current muted advertisement. Double-click the X key again to permanently mute the advertisement.

The X key controls are associated with the Mute Ads functionality.

Alt and N

Alt+NPress Alt and N to open the SkipZS Features section while using the SkipZS interface on YouTube.

Alt and S

Alt+SPress Alt and S to open the SkipZS extension popup.

These shortcuts provide quick access without requiring you to manually navigate through the interface.

Customize Keyboard Shortcuts

Select Configure Shortcuts

In the Keyboard Shortcuts popup, select Configure Shortcuts.

The shortcut configuration interface will open.

Enable Custom Shortcuts

In the shortcut configuration interface, find Enable Custom Shortcuts.

Turn on Enable Custom Shortcuts if you want SkipZS to use the custom shortcuts you configure.

When this option is enabled, the custom shortcuts you have configured will be active.

When this option is disabled, SkipZS will use the default shortcuts.

Configure the Shortcuts

Use the controls provided in the shortcut configuration interface to change the shortcuts.

Follow the instructions displayed in the configuration interface to assign your preferred key combinations.

Save or apply the changes using the controls provided in the interface.

Custom Shortcuts and Default Shortcuts

Enabling custom shortcuts does not automatically replace every default shortcut.

Only the shortcuts that you actually customize are changed.

For example, if you configure three custom shortcuts and leave one shortcut using its original default configuration, the three customized shortcuts will work according to their new configurations.

The shortcut that you did not customize will continue to work using its default configuration.

Therefore, custom shortcuts and unchanged default shortcuts can work at the same time when Enable Custom Shortcuts is turned on.

Remember Popup Position

The Remember Popup Position option controls where the SkipZS popup opens on the YouTube page.

Remember Popup Position disabled

Off
  • When Remember Popup Position is turned off, the SkipZS popup will open in its default location near the right side of the YouTube page.
  • The popup will not remember the position where you previously placed it.

Remember Popup Position enabled

On
  • Turn on Remember Popup Position.
  • Open the SkipZS popup on YouTube.
  • Drag the popup to your preferred position on the page.
  • Close the SkipZS popup.
  • Open the SkipZS popup again.
  • The popup will reopen at the same position where it was previously closed.

This allows you to keep the popup in a convenient location while using YouTube.

Always Show Close Button

The Always Show Close Button option controls how the SkipZS popup is closed.

Always Show Close Button disabled

Off
  • By default, the SkipZS popup does not display an X close button in the top-right corner.
  • When you click outside the SkipZS popup, the popup will automatically close.

Always Show Close Button enabled

On
  • Turn on Always Show Close Button.
  • An X close button will appear in the top-right corner of the SkipZS popup.
  • When this option is enabled, clicking outside the popup will not close it.
  • The popup will remain open until you manually close it.
  • To close the popup, click the X button in the top-right corner.

This option is useful when you want to prevent the popup from accidentally closing when you interact with the YouTube page outside the SkipZS interface.

Current Keyboard Shortcuts

The current SkipZS keyboard shortcuts are:

XX key: Press and hold to temporarily unmute a muted advertisement.
XX key release: Re-mutes the advertisement after the temporary unmute.
XorXDouble-click X: Permanently unmute the current advertisement.
XorXDouble-click X again: Permanently mute the advertisement again.
Alt+NAlt and N: Open the SkipZS Features section.
Alt+SAlt and S: Open the SkipZS extension popup.

General Settings at a Glance

  • Keyboard Shortcuts allows you to view the available SkipZS keyboard shortcuts.
  • Configure Shortcuts allows you to customize the keyboard shortcuts.
  • Enable Custom Shortcuts enables the custom shortcuts that you configure.
  • Remember Popup Position remembers the position where the SkipZS popup was previously closed and reopens it there.
  • Always Show Close Button displays an X close button and prevents the popup from closing when you click outside it.

General Settings are accessed through SkipZS while using YouTube.

When customizing shortcuts, only the shortcuts that you actually change are replaced by their custom configurations. Other shortcuts that remain at their default configuration can continue to work normally.

The X keyboard controls are associated with the Mute Ads functionality.
